Where is AMS located?  (back to top)

We are located in downtown Pioneer, CA on Highway 88.  Located in Historic Amador County

How much time does AMS usually need to come and give us a onsite Binding Estimate? (back to top)

We can usually make out to your home or office within 1 to 3 days from the time you called. Same day appointments are available on more time restricted moves?

What kind of Valuation is included with AMS hourly rate?  (back to top)

Basic Coverage at 60 cents per pound per article ensures recovery at 60 cents multiplied by the weight of the item or the carton it’s packed in. Thus, if an item weighing 20 pounds is lost or damaged, you can recover $12.00 for that item (60 cents x 20 pounds). This is very minimal protection and your goods are probably worth considerably more. This protection is included in
the AMS hourly rate.

Actual Cash Value protection ensures recovery at the actual cash value (i.e., fair market value) of your lost or damaged item(s), up to the total value you declare. AMS will charge for actual cash value protection, and will state the rate on the Agreement.

Full Value protection ensures recovery at the full value (i.e., replacement value) of your lost or damaged item(s), up to the total value you declare. The carrier may offer deductible in combination with full value protection. You are responsible for deductibles unless the mover loses an item, refer to the section on Limitations on the Carrier’s Liability. AMS will charge for
full value protection, and will state the rate on the Agreement.

Are all AMS Estimates BINDING? (back to top)

YES, AMS only gives Binding Estimates! The only time AMS will change the Not To Exceed Price is if the amount of items agreed upon at the time of the estimate is changed or if the Destination changes. The AMS crew leader will issue a Change of Services form before the Not to Exceed Price is changed.

Are AMS workers covered in case of a onsite injury at my home?  (back to top)

Yes, All AMS workers are covered by a State Workers compensation policy. Call our office for a copy of our Certificate of Liability.

Does AMS ever change its pickup or delivery date?  (back to top)

No, the only reason we would ever change the agreed upon date of Delivery or Pickup would be because of weather or technical difficulties with the truck. Although very rare, these things can happen. Sometimes mother nature has the last say in things, especially in the higher elevations.  Any other reason the date would change would be upon the customer's request.

What are considered Hazardous Materials and shouldnt be packed?  (back to top)

Hazardous Materials, as defined by the U. S. Secretary of Transportation, are not accepted for shipping.

Some of the materials most common to household use are indicated below. Please contact your mover if you have any questions.

COMBUSTABLE LIQUIDS: Rubbing Alcohol,  Lubricants (Motor Oils), Anti-Freeze Compounds

CORROSIVES:  Acids,  Drain Cleaner, Photographic Acids used in developing film, Bleach, Batteries (wet or dry),  Water Purifying agents used in swimming pools

EXPLOSIVES:  Fireworks, Small Arms Ammunition, Flash Bulbs

How can I check to make sure AMS in Licensed?  (back to top)

You may call the PUC at 1-800-FON-4PUC (1-800-366-4782) to determine whether the carriers are licensed and insured and whether the PUC has issued informal citations or taken formal legal actions against the carriers. AMS Cal-T # is 189431 we are also members of the Amador County Chamber of Commerce.

Should I defrost the freezer before the moving date or wait till the movers arrive? (back to top)

Its always a good idea to defrost the freezer 24 hours before the move just make sure the freezer has a defrost pan under it or placed out side to defrost.

Will AMS do a flate rate?  (back to top)

AMS does do flat rates on larger items. Pianos, spas and other small jobs that just dont fit into our 2 hour min. Or as defined in the MAX4 tarriff.

Does AMS offer senior discounts?  (back to top)

YES, AMS does offer a Senior 10% discount. This is determined by discounting 10% from the Not to Exceed Price unless your Not to Exceed Price states the discount is already included.
